Secrets from Syria

I saw this article on BBC and found it very entertainting.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7786564.stm

"Indeed, if a husband fails to satisfy his wife sexually - or vice versa - it is considered grounds for divorce under Islamic law." ok in which part of the world is this law implemented? I have yet to come across such a case! If a wife fails to satisfy the husband he simply takes a second or a third wife, if the husband fails to satify the wife he still takes a second and third wife.

"In other cultural contexts, this might seem something like a den of smut and vice - but Mr Nasser, a devout Muslim, insists it's more a public service and religious duty."

""There's no shame in religion," he adds, as another tiny, shiny g-string shoots out of Mr Nasser's sewing machine."

If not anything, you gotta admire the way Muslims attach everything to God and religion, as long as you can make this link its a good deed you are doing. If you fail your exam its simply oh well Allah didnt wish it, next time I will pray harder before my exam. How about next time you try and study harder? Allah just doesnt give it to peopel who sit around with their hands on their laps. I can understand that faith gives you the extra push to try a little harder, if you feel like there is supernatural power who is looking over you and will help you positively in your path. But Allah is not going to help you when you sit on your lazy ass and wait for money to grow on trees.

do you think the cost of lower self-belief and motivation is bigger than the benefit of being able to blame a 3rd party for your failures?

the cost of blaming 3rd parties is a lack of development, but then most people revel in their misery (theres vanity in misery, as theres vanity for martyrs who glorify themselves and go the extra mile to incur pain and suffering) ... there are other costs but i think the biggest is a lack of development and drive, as well as future goals, which are important both from the economic and the social perspective

for a case in point, check out the dark ages; the creed of the day was memento mori (not sure about spelling) which meant remember death, or think about dieing, and is a pretty depressive way to go about it ... we had the dark ages for 1000 years, fom the fall of the roman empire in the late 400s to the renaissance in the 1400s, and all people were thinking about was death and the next world, with no care for this one ... interestingly there was pretty much NO development whatsoever, even retroaction so to speak, with the ability make cement going lost etc. then the renaissance came along with carpe dium, and all of sudden people focused on the now, and look at the plehtora of ideas and innovation that sprung from that time period ... its amazing really ... so yeah ... thats the cost

the cost is not appraent at that instant it is the future generations which will bear these costs. and the future generation doesnt get a vote in what is being done to their future by these fanatics.... same to the global warming idea, it will be our children who will reap the bitter fruit of the deeds of previous generations.

the future is irrelevant if you think theres a judgement day, and you will be in heaven ...
